BSNL's current tariff portal, with Tamil Nadu selected, listed the ₹153 plan with 24 days, 1 GB of high-speed data per day, unlimited voice and 100 daily SMS when checked for this guide. The portal describes reduced data speed after the high-speed quota. The exact circle and current listing matter more than an old screenshot of the same price.

This guide keeps the 24-day validity visible. It does not call the pack a full calendar month or assume that a low upfront amount automatically means the lowest long-term cost.

Why the short validity matters

A smaller payment can be useful when you need a short period of service or want to evaluate the network before committing more money. It also reduces the amount tied to a connection if your circumstances may soon change.

However, a 24-day recharge comes around more frequently than a 28-day or calendar-month option. For budgeting, divide price by actual validity. Looking only at the amount on the recharge card can hide the effect of having to renew sooner.

If you manage several family numbers, record each expiry separately. Treating every recharge as “monthly” creates avoidable confusion when the validity periods differ. Use the operator's displayed expiry after activation rather than calculating the date from memory alone.

Daily data and reduced-speed data are not equivalent

The listed high-speed allowance totals 24 GB by simple multiplication across the 24-day period. This is still a collection of daily allowances, not a single bucket. A heavy day can use its quota before a quiet day begins.

The tariff portal describes a speed reduction to 40 kbps after the daily quota for this listing. Continued access at a reduced speed should not be presented as equivalent to the original high-speed allowance. Applications vary in their needs, and a very slow connection may not support the task you had planned comfortably.

For important work, keep a fallback plan based on your actual circumstances. That might mean downloading required material beforehand on trusted Wi-Fi or choosing a suitable larger allowance. Do not depend on the word “unlimited” alone when the tariff describes a speed threshold.

Check local service before comparing national headlines

Network usefulness is local. Ask whether the SIM works reliably where you call and browse, including indoors and at busy times. We have not independently measured BSNL coverage or speed in your neighbourhood.

If you are considering switching operators mainly because of a lower recharge amount, test the practical experience first where possible. The right plan for a well-covered location can be a poor fit for a building where reception is unreliable. Cost comparisons cannot replace that observation.

Also check handset compatibility and the service available on your connection through official information. A tariff card does not establish the exact network technology or performance you will receive at an address.

Compare with a longer BSNL option

The BSNL ₹599 plan in this selection has a different validity and a larger daily allowance. The ₹1,499 guide covers a long-validity total-data option. Neither is simply the ₹153 pack multiplied by more days; the structure and commitment change.

Use the calculator to compare daily equivalents, then consider the upfront payment and the type of data you need. If your usage is very low and mostly on Wi-Fi, a total-data design may deserve attention. If you use mobile internet every day, check how a daily quota matches your busiest days.

How to verify the same listing yourself

  • Open BSNL's official prepaid tariff portal.
  • Select your own telecom circle; this article's check used Tamil Nadu.
  • Locate the amount and read both validity and the full benefit text.
  • Separate the current base allowance from any dated promotional wording.
  • Confirm the final pack in the official recharge channel before payment.

Questions about the ₹153 plan

Why do older articles show a different number of days? Operators revise tariffs, and older PDFs can remain available. A historical document is not necessarily the current offer. Use the live circle-specific listing and your checkout.

Does reduced-speed data mean the same experience after the daily limit? No. The speed condition is a material limitation and should be considered before buying.

Is this available on identical terms everywhere? This guide documents the Tamil Nadu portal selection. Check your own circle and number instead of assuming national uniformity.

Can I compare ₹153 directly with a 28-day price? Compare the daily cost first, then the actual benefits and renewal frequency. The purchase amounts alone do not cover the same duration.

Cost calculation at a glance

Measure Calculation Result
Daily equivalent ₹153 ÷ 24 days ₹6.38/day
30-day comparison figure ₹153 ÷ 24 × 30 ₹191.25
Upfront payment One recharge ₹153

These are our calculations from the listed price and validity. The 30-day equivalent is not a separate pack or a promise of monthly billing. It excludes optional add-ons and payment-platform charges. Compare usable coverage and benefits as well as cost.
